photo Michael Warren  taken after 27 hours of immersion

At 14.40 on december 8th 2000 Pascal descended to the bottom of Antibes Pool and did not surface until  20.40 on Saturday 9th December – a world first.

Sea-Cruise are proud to have been associated with his exploit as the supplier of his weighting system.

Pascal used two Brightweights weight belts – one with 5 Kg and another with 3Kg. He used ankle weights each with two 500g weights and also ankle weights each fitted with four 500g weights on each arm. The effect of submersion for 30 hours in the chlorine treated pool took its toll on some of Pascal’s equipment. His suit deteriorated to such an extent that it will not be suitable for any further dives. All the Brightweights performed perfectly. Even the colour of the webbing did not fade – The weighting system was indistinguisable from new after 30 hours immersion in the pool water.

For much of his dive he removed his fins and walked on the bottom of the pool carrying his cylinder – which was fitted with a Brightweights harness with two 1.5 Kg weights. To pass the time he counted  the tiles that made up a black strip in one of the swimming lanes. For the record the number of tiles Pascal counted was 17,949.
