Mistral

The classic regulator, as used by Jacques Y Cousteau and his team on the Calypso

In my opinion the Mistral is one of the most outstanding engineering designs of all time. It is so simple that anyone with a basic toolkit comprising ; slotted screwdriver, circlip remover, an allen key and two spanners can entitrely diassemble and rebuild the regulator in an hour.

Single stage. Developed from the CG45 which was the first commercially produced demand valve. The Mistral has a single stage, two short corrugated hoses joined to a standard mouthpiece by a chromed metal T piece.

The example shown has the original hoses and still operated perfectly when used in summer 2001. The A clamp has been changed for a modern design to suit current pillar valve dimensions.
